Building The Perfect Smoothie Bowl
Step 1: Choose Your Milk
You’ll want about a cup of milk, depending on how thick you like your smoothie bowl. Options include almond milk, cashew milk, coconut milk, soy milk, and so many more. An alternative is to use half a cup of any milk and combine it with half a cup of canned coconut milk.
Step 2: Choose Your Veggies
To get even more benefits from your smoothie bowl, add about a cup of greens like kale or spinach. Swiss chard, beet greens, and romaine lettuce are other options.
Step 3: Choose Your Fruit
Add about two cups of fruit. Options include frozen bananas, mangoes, peaches, berries, acai, pineapple, cherries, the list goes on. Coconut meat is another good option. If you’re using fresh fruit, you may need to add some ice.
Step 4: Any Add-ins?
Options include a tablespoon of chia seeds, one-two tablespoons of protein powder of choice, honey, agave or sweetener of choice to taste, 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla, and just a pinch of salt.
Step 5: Blend and Pour
Puree your ingredients in a blender until you reach the desired consistency, then pour or scoop your smoothie into a bowl.
Step 6: Top it Your Way
Have fun with this! Here are some ideas:
Fruit : sliced bananas, strawberries, pomegranate seeds, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, goji berries, mangoes, cherries, peaches, raisins, dates, coconut flakes.
Herbs and Spices: fennel, basil, ginger.
Nuts: almonds, walnuts, cashews.
Other: granola, hemp hearts, flax seed meal.
